I choose to attend the coding bootcamp to switch careers, I’ve been a music teacher for the last 5 years, and I found the bootcamp a good springboard to jump into a new field. Without the program, it would have taken me at least 3 or more years to get where I am now. Even though the program taught me so much, you only get out what you put it in and I still had to work very hard on my own time to move forward. Now I’ve got my first full-time software engineer job and I couldn’t be happier with the decision to make a positive change in my life.

Going to the University of California, Davis [Coding] Boot Camp was the best decision I ever made to enhance my career. I loved working with my classmates on amazing projects due to the skills that I learned from this class.

Every week was a challenge but the instructors and teacher’s assistants taught us efficiently and gave us great resources. We even had the option for tutoring so the boot camp never made you feel that you were stuck and constantly made sure that not only were we doing our work but actually learning each software language.

The instructors also gave us real-world tips in working in the web development industry, how to prepare for a job interview, and what is happening in the tech world. We also had job assistance where they offered a web seminar on how to clean up your resume, get ready for a job interview, and so much more.

I keep encouraging friends and students that if they want to gain more skills and experience in web development to join this boot camp.  

I knew that coding was what I wanted to do and the program helped give me some formal training to solidify that. It worked well with my full-time job and I was able to complete projects that would have taken me months or years to learn had I done them on my own.

I chose to attend because I knew I wanted to become a software engineer. The program is great and covers plenty of material to build well rounded full-stack engineers by the end of the course.

That being said, students definitely get out what they put in, which is what I like most about the curriculum. I put in maximum effort to absorb the material. I spent significant time before class preparing for the day’s lessons, so I would be able to pay greater attention during the class period, as well as time after class to understand anything I did not fully grasp. I also spent extensive amounts of time outside of class to learn the material and expand my understanding beyond the lessons.
